Membrane Switches with PCB Circuit Layers

Advantages of Using Traditional FR4 PCBs in Membrane Switches

  • Traditional FR4 PCBs (printed circuit boards) are low cost, widely available and easy to procure. This ensures that we can quickly make your custom membrane switches with PCB circuit layers, no matter what happens in the current trade environment.
  • There are no limitations to the amount of surface-mount-components that we can mount on your custom PCB. In contrast, screen-printed silver circuits can only accommodate a few (usually 8 or less) surface mount components with good reliability.
  • We can use any size surface mount components that you need including fine pitch components like RGB LEDs. Screen-printed silver circuits can only accommodate large surface mount components (0.060″ x 0.030″ or bigger).
  • FR4 PCB circuit layers are widely available in different thicknesses. Thicker boards, like 0.063″ or thicker, can act as a structural backer for your membrane switch. Membrane switches built on flex circuits always need a rigid backer to support the switches and LEDs, but FR4 PCBs do not require a rigid backer.
  • Membrane switches with PCB circuit layers can be terminated with any connector that you need on the back of the board.

How do I order custom membrane switches with rigid PCB circuits?

At Sterling Electrode LLC, our design team is the best in America when it comes to designing custom membrane switches with PCB circuit layers. Almost 100% of membrane switch designers are offshore now, and almost all American membrane switch suppliers outsource their design work. This can result in long delays and costly miscommunications for your team and your project. When you work with Sterling Electrode you will always have a US based design engineer do your product drawings.

To get started, fill out our contact form or send us an email today. We would love to work with you and we can typically quote your project within 24 hours. Our design engineer is ready to work with your team and answer your questions. Please reach out to us today!
